Evaluation of smart village strategies and challenges

Purpose Rural communities around the world are searching for solutions to upkeep, restore and improve local services that deteriorating. They exploring potential of a digital transition along with opportunities threats created by new patterns mobility closer links urban areas. The expansion information communication technologies (ICT)-enhanced applications enables rural their quality life. concept smart village is primarily about how make best use both ICT social innovation responding ongoing emerging challenges. Therefore, aim this paper investigate strategies adoption villages challenges faced. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative research methodology was adopted in research. web-based questionnaire survey conducted collect data. In total, 110 fully completed useable questionnaires were received. Statistical analyses undertaken using Package Social Sciences (SPSS). Findings results indicate lack budget, clear development sustainable “smart villages”, collaboration between stakeholders knowledge related villages” most debated implementing agenda. Whereas energy, healthcare, transport, education water top five important strategies. Research limitations/implications Despite novel insights provided study, it has some limitations. Given reported based on literature review small-scale survey, presented only tentative not generalisable. findings limited UK context only.
